Check-in time is between 3pm and 7pm. Late arrivals can be accommodated with prior notice. Check-out is 11am.

Sunday-Thursday we institute a "self-check-ins" policy. Your room keys and directions to your room will be hanging on the Inn door and you are welcome to check-in on your own. We ask that you arrive within our check-in hours (unless prior accommodations have been made) and you are welcome to enter the Inn and make yourself at home.  

We ask for the approximate hour of your arrival. If you expect to be later or earlier than the agreed upon time, please kindly call the Inn.

There is a two night minimum on weekends in season, May 1 through Thanksgiving. Please inquire for minimum requirements during other times in the year and for holiday weekends. A 50% deposit may be required to guarantee your reservation with balance due upon arrival. A Visa or MasterCard can be used to guarantee the reservation, but payment is preferred by cash, personal check, or traveler's check.

Cancellation policy

Because of our small size, we are greatly affected by untimely cancellations; therefore we require at least fourteen days notice of cancellation. After that, no refund is possible regardless of reason for non-arrival or early departure.

Please note, if two or more rooms are reserved, 30 days advance notice is required.

Whole house rentals require at least 60 days notice of cancellation; after that, no deposit refund is possible.  All holidays will have a nonrefundable 50% deposit.

Directions

The Looking Glass is located in Rhinebeck Village and is easily accessible from the NY State Thruway at exit 19. Follow signs to Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge and go to the second traffic light after the bridge and make a right on to Route 9G. Go to the next traffic light and make another right on to Route 9 South which will take you past the Dutchess County Fairgrounds on the left. Go to the third street past the Fairgrounds and make a left on to Chestnut Street. We are on the right side of the street almost to the end of the block.

Traveling on the Taconic State Parkway from the South, exit at Bulls Head Road. Make a LEFT at the first stop sign and a LEFT (West) on Bulls Head Road at the second stop sign. Continue until you reach Route 9G. Take a Right for less than a mile, then turn Left onto Violet Hill Rd. Travel to the end and then turn Left onto Route 308 (Market Street). This will bring you into Rhinebeck Village. At the Red Light, take a Right and travel 2 blocks to Chestnut Street. Turn Right and continue about 3/4 of the way down the first block. Just pass the Inn, there is a driveway with 2 parking lots.

Traveling on the Taconic State Parkway from the North, exit at Red Hook/ Pine Plains. Take a Right towards Rhinebeck (Rt 199). Bear left at the fork in the road (Rt 308).This will bring you into Rhinebeck Village. At the Red Light, take a Right and travel 2 blocks to Chestnut Street. Turn Right and continue about 3/4 of the way down the first block. Just pass the Inn, there is a driveway with 2 parking lots.

From NYC take Amtrak to the Rhinecliff Station and take a 4 mile taxi ride to The Looking Glass.
