Rich in history, natural beauty and historic sites, the Hudson River Valley is the perfect destination for a day trip or an extended visit any time of the year. See the breathtaking views of the Hudson from the Gilded Age mansions dotting its shores: Montgomery Place, Wilderstein, Staatsburg to name a few. Explore the lives and careers of

Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt while touring their country homes and see the Roosevelt Library which contains extensive displays and interactive exhibits. Follow the Dutchess Wine Trail, a scenic country trail with stops along the way for tours and tastings at four of our area's wonderful wineries. A visit to the world-renowned culinary college, The Culinary Institute of America, will be a highlight of your stay. Experience fine dining at five student-staffed restaurants; tour the college and get a first-hand look at on-going classes as your guide walks you through a remarkable facility on the banks of the Hudson.

Only three miles from The Looking Glass is the Center for Performing Arts, a recently constructed theater which offers performances throughout the year and serves as a regular performance venue for local companies as well as national and international artists.

Plan to see the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome while visiting the Hudson Valley. Just a few minutes drive from the inn, the Aerodrome presents antique aeroplanes in their natural setting and recaptures the excitement of old-time flying from the period of 1900 to 1940. Open daily from 10 am to 5 pm May 15 through Oct. 31. Air shows are held every weekend from mid-June through mid-October.

From its opening weekend in May and on into October, The Dutchess County Fairgrounds hosts an assortment of events from car shows to the fair itself. Just 2 blocks from the inn, the Fairgrounds features seasonal juried craft and antique shows, along with festivals and swap meets.
Visit their website for a complete calendar listing.

Minutes away is the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College, an innovatively designed facility that houses two theaters for dance, theater and music productions. The Fisher Center is the new home of the Bard Music Festival and will play host to companies from the United States and abroad during Bard SummerScape, a festival of opera, theater and dance.

For the weekend warrior or outdoor enthusiast, there is much to do in the Hudson Valley. Red Hook Golf Course provides a beautiful 18-hole course and restaurant. About 10 minutes from the Inn, this course offers tee time specials and on-line reservations.

Tennis, anyone? Just down the road, Rhinebeck offers a stunning tennis facility. Outdoor and indoor courts available and beautiful grounds to stroll through. Located near the Center for Performing Arts, this is a great way to get in some exercise while on vacation.

With the Hudson River so close, this is a great place to sail!  Tivoli Sailing Company offers a wide menu of sailing options: sail for 2-6 hours, plan a picnic, have champagne at sunset, sail with the full moon, etc. With Captain Jerome you are free to customize and enjoy.
